What is a normal size for guinea pigs?
This is a great way to try to determine the age of a guinea pig as pet stores frequently try to sell guinea pigs that are simply too young (keep in mind frequently guinea pigs are also sexed incorrectly and this can result in buying an underage pregnant “male” and those pregnancies have high mortality rates.)
Newborn babies: 3-4in
Five weeks: 5-7in
16 weeks: 7-9in
14 months (fully mature): 9-10.5in
Guinea Pig Weight
Guinea pig males and females are almost the same weight. Do not use this as your only method for sexing guinea pigs.
Adult males: 2.5-2.75lbs
Females: slightly less than males
